MK Engineers, Ltd. is a locally-owned, award-winning electrical engineering consulting firm founded in 1972 and incorporated in 1977.  The firm is located in beautiful Mililani in Central Oahu and provides services throughout Hawaii and parts of the Pacific Rim to both Governmental and Private clients.

Over the years, MK Engineers has earned a reputation as being one of the leading electrical engineering firms in Hawaii.  We are proud to have been recognized eleven times by the United States Navy and United States Army with Letters of Commendation for outstanding performance in both the design and construction phases as the Prime AE. In addition, MK Engineers has been a sub-consultant on numerous design teams which have been recognized with awards by both the U.S. Military as well as by the State Government and industry peers.

At the core of our foundation are the values of faith, character, integrity, honesty, hard work, and generosity. MK Engineers is located in Central Oahu, away from the noise, traffic, pollution, and stress of Honolulu. This move was made to reduce commute times as well as provide a higher quality of life. Meet Our Management Team

 

Paul Uyeda, P.E. HI, P.E. GUAM

President

As President of the firm, Mr. Uyeda is responsible for the administrative and business management of the firm as well as developing a culture of excellence which produces both quality services as well as a fruitful and rewarding quality of life. He is passionate about helping people to excel professionally while placing the family first. A graduate of the University of Hawaii with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Uyeda has over the last 30 plus years prepared numerous designs including primary distribution, substations, secondary distribution, standby power, lighting, fire alarm, security, and telecommunications systems. Mr. Uyeda is also adept at computer modeling of interior and exterior electrical distribution systems and developing long range master plans for large facilities and campuses as well as arc flash studies.

 
 
 
 

RUSSELL K. MORI, P.E. HI, RCDD

Vice President

Russell Mori has over 30 years of experience in construction-related design of electrical systems for industrial, commercial, institutional, military and residential projects. Russell received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii. He has prepared numerous designs of highway and street lighting for the city and state, has designed telecommunications systems for commercial and industrial projects, and has extensive experience in the design of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, residential, telecommunications, institutional and military facilities. He also has experience designing primary power, secondary power, standby power, telecommunications, SCADA, renewable energy sources, controls, security, and access control systems.

 
 
 
 

Aaron Hamada, P.E. HI, RCDD

Vice President

Aaron Hamada earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii and has over 30 years of experience in the design of all types of electrical and lighting systems for industrial, commercial, institutional and residential projects. He has prepared designs for various types of projects such as residential subdivisions, telecommunications facilities, offices, schools, and retail spaces. He has prepared designs of highway and street lighting for the city and state and has designed new construction, repair, and alteration projects for military, state, county and private sector electrical distribution systems and facilities. Mr. Hamada has extensive experience in the design and construction supervision of large electrical projects including lighting and power applications for hotel, dormitory, barracks, industrial, commercial, educational, residential, transportation, institutional, and military installations. He also prepared electrical designs for primary and secondary distributions systems for educational facilities, large offices, harbors, airports, residential communities, and industrial subdivisions.

 
 
 
 

Ron Katahara, P.E. HI, P.E. GUAM, P.E. CNMI

Principal

Ron Katahara obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. With over 47 years of experience, he is the firm’s senior engineer and has extensive knowledge in the design and management of large electrical projects for both renovation and new construction. In addition, Mr. Katahara’s expertise includes the design of primary substations, primary and secondary distribution, shore power substations, street and highway lighting systems, and utility company infrastructure for residential, industrial and commercial developments. He has prepared electrical designs of lighting, fire alarm and power systems for the construction of educational facilities, including classrooms, libraries, laboratories, administrative offices and gymnasiums. Mr. Katahara also has served as supervising principal for the electrical, telecomm, and highway lighting relocation aspects for the Honolulu High Capacity Transit Project.
