MK Engineers was the prime AE and responsible for a multi-discipline team that designed the back-up power systems for four water wells including standby generators, generator connections, MCC modifications, ATS, fuel tanks, and pads.  In most of the cases, the sites were located in challenging locations and in backroad conditions where the sites are only accessible by four wheel drive vehicles.  This posed a special challenge in not only getting construction vehicles and equipment in to install large generators, but also re-fueling trucks.  Options included road improvements and other mitigation methods during the design with the goal of improving constructability as well as long term maintenance.  Close attention was also paid to the phasing of the work in order to minimize any outages, especially in remote locations.
